What has been done

Accessibility is part of how the site was built rather than a layer added afterwards. These are the main measures.

  • Text can be resized to at least 200 percent without loss of content or function, and the layout reflows on small screens
  • Text and background colours meet or exceed the WCAG AA contrast ratio; links are distinguishable without relying on colour alone
  • Every page uses a single main heading and a logical heading order, so that screen reader users can navigate by structure
  • All interactive elements can be reached and operated with a keyboard, and the focused element is visibly indicated
  • Images that carry meaning have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology
  • Forms have visible labels, clear error messages and no time limits
  • Motion is limited, and any animation respects the reduced-motion setting on your device
  • Language is plain, medical terms are explained where they are used, and reading level has been kept as low as the subject allows

Known limitations

Embedded maps from third-party providers may not be fully accessible; the address and directions are always provided as text beside them. PDF documents, where offered, may not be fully tagged; ask the rooms for an accessible version. If you find something else, please tell us.

Other ways to get the same information

Nothing on this website has to be done online.

Everything on this site can be done by telephone with the rooms on (07) 3870 3708, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm. Referrals can be sent by fax to (07) 3236 9555 or by secure messaging. Appointments can be requested by phone. Information about conditions and treatments can be explained in person or over the phone, and printed copies of any page can be provided.

Interpreters, including Auslan interpreters, can be arranged for consultations; tell the rooms when you book. The consulting rooms at Watkins Medical Centre have lift access; if you have specific access needs, let the rooms know and they will make arrangements.

If you use assistive technology and something on this site does not work as it should, please tell the rooms which page and what happened. It will be fixed.

Feedback and review

Accessibility issues are treated as defects and fixed as a priority.

Report accessibility problems by phone to the rooms, or through the complaints and feedback page. Include the page address, the device and browser or assistive technology you were using, and what you expected to happen.

The site is reviewed against WCAG 2.2 AA when significant changes are made, and at least annually.
